Here I go again. Sometimes I am so stubborn that I do pay attention to certain inferences I try to make in a kind of game before listening to a production. When reading the name of the band, and the cover of this album, I just got an idea which was destroyed in just seconds after pressing play. This is a trio from Switzerland that play what it would be considered as Symphonic Death Metal, although I would add the Progressive label due to certain passages in their songs.Quite interesting and different option for those who have an idea or preference on this subgenre, and this is because some of the main vocal lines are in charge of their female vocalist, who is definitely a classical music one. In some way, they reminded me, and took me back in time to late 90s, to Argentinians Pandemia (and their marvelous Prana Sempiterno), even though their styles are different. It was very interesting listening to the different approach they give to their music in the eight tracks that are part of Of Mayhem and Dismay. There are some parts that are very into Therion (first part of their Symphonic era), but it is totally recognizable that Kerberos do not want to be confused. Although the female vocals are well done and collocated, there are parts in which the energy used overloads and kind of exaggerates the feeling or vibe. Good release, though. Interesting and fresh.
