There is something that I cannot find too often when listening to a Death Metal band, and this is having a good balance between speed, rhythm and both with a controlled intensity. I mean, There are bands that are too focused on giving us an overload of brutality, others that are concentrated on a dark side density or those who are oriented to a more melodic production. But this isn’t the case with Skulldozer. These Americans offer us a ten-track production that knows how to combine different aspects of Old School Death Metal (American and Swedish styles) and density of Sludge, without losing heaviness and intensity at the same time. You will definitely find yourself between drumming your table, leg, or whatever you have near and bang your head in many parts of this production. From this production, my favorite ones are Non Stop Ruthless Crushing which starts with a very Dismember alike sound to later accelerate the rhythm to a more American Californian 90s Death Metal and end up in a more thrashy sound; the Morbid Angel influenced Kingdom Ossuarium and the brutal yet catchy Scum beneath the Skin. About the production aspect, there isn’t much to say, it is pretty good; you can identify every instrument without any problems. The cover, on the other hand, is just amazing. It made me recall Dismember’s Massive Killing Capacity in some way, but with remarkable differences.
All in all, this is a very interesting production that takes you to an enjoyable trip through Death Metal kingdom.
